The digital accelerator program has selected 11 healthtech startups for its new cohort. Run by Health Innovation Yorkshire and Humber, the Propel@YH program supports innovative health tech startups looking to establish their presence in the region.

The program, now in its fifth year, seeks to bring the best health innovators from the UK to Yorkshire and Humber to benefit the region’s population and widen the health economy.

What is Propel@YH program? How does it help healthtech startups?

Propel@YH digital accelerator program is a six-month course providing startups with support and guidance to accelerate their growth and increase their market presence in the region. It selects startups and SMEs from the UK who have a presence in the region or are looking to establish one.

The program includes:

  • Masterclasses from industry experts
  • Networking opportunities
  • Access to the region’s healthtech community
  • Learning and growing environment
  • Feedback from NHS stakeholders

Propel@YH is based on five pillars critical for startups to succeed through the NHS. They are:

  • NHS landscape

Understand the journey through the NHS. Its organisational structure, national and local programs, stakeholder management and engagement.

  • Legal considerations

Understand the company structure, formation and employment, data protection and patient confidentiality, medical device requirements, etc.

  • Finance and funding flows

Get to know how finances flow through the NHS, procurement process, funding and grant options, pitching, etc.

  • Networking

Get in touch with the local health ecosystem, local business support, startup network, mentors, partners, etc.

  • Growth and spread

Learn the market requirements, scalability factors, clinical safety, sustainability, and valuation from establishing in the region to growing beyond the UK.

11 innovative healthtech startups selected for Propel@YH digital accelerator program

The new cohort begins on 18th October 2023 and will continue till 21st March 2024 to provide selected startups with all that’s required to establish their presence and grow in Yorkshire & Humber and beyond.

It will have 11 innovative startups with diverse offerings, from hypertension management and screening to women’s self-care. Here’s the list:

#1 Theia AI

Theia AI is an AI-powered neurological software that extracts insights from MRIs, medical images and other patient data to monitor the disease, suggest treatment options and assist in clinical decision-making.

#2 MediTask

MediTask is an application that connects clinicians and medical students to provide workflow optimization and improve medical education delivery.

#3 Pogo Digital Health

Pogo Digital Health is transforming communication in healthcare. Its innovative product, Tailored Talks, provides personalised medical information, symptom tracking and links to additional support for people living with long-term or chronic conditions.

#4 Doctoria

Doctoria is a virtual healthcare or telemedicine platform that seamlessly connects doctors and patients. It provides 24/7 video consultations, empowering patients to take charge of their health anytime, anywhere.

#5 Inicio Health

Inicio is a digital health startup creating solutions to support digital transformation in healthcare. Their offerings aim to improve health outcomes and enhance patient experience.

#6 Neu Health

Neu Health is a smartphone-based clinical platform and patient program designed to make the latest Parkinson’s disease and dementia care accessible for all. It monitors and translates clinically relevant symptoms for condition management and reducing clinical burden.

#7 Optimise BP

Optimise BP is an AI-powered application automating hypertension management. It supports and guides patients in stepwise management of their condition to reduce the need for clinical input. As a result, it saves time for patients and clinicians.

#8 MyOpNotes

MyOpNotes is a digital platform streamlining the writing of operation notes for surgeons. It automatically captures big data in surgery and helps improve hospital reimbursements via OPCS coding.

#9 Sympa Health

Sympa Health is an AI-powered self-care solution for women’s health management. It enables women to make empowered choices by providing AI-driven digital therapeutics, personalised treatment plans and expert support.

#10 Enrich My Care

Enrich My Care is a personal healthcare platform to monitor the health and care needs of children with disabilities. It is an AI-driven intelligent platform that provides a one-stop solution to coordinate and manage across various care providers.

#11 MAIYA

MAIYA is an AI-powered automated digital health assistant that helps manage long-term conditions. It aims to support primary care.
